Calytrocalyx hollrungii (Hollrung’s palm)

I have updated the plant sale list. Mounts “Plant-a-Palooza” was always a real joy. But it was just twice a year. Now, they are having Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter plant sales. So, the Spring sale is coming soon, April 25 and 26. I’m checking it out. There is a plant sale every weekend from April 18 to May 2.

The Calytrocalyx hollrungii needs a nice shady area and moist conditions, And really not much else. It is a clustering palm, with many stalks and new red emergent leaves. It is a slow grower,

The palm is named after the well known German plant pathologist, author and educator, Max Hollrung. He didn’t discover or name the palm. Calyptrocalyx hollrungii was first described in 1889 by Odoardo Beccari as Linospadix hollrungii. Just thought that might interest some folks.

Happy gardening,

Dave
