Silver Ribbon Fern is common in Florida. In the center of the photo, you’ll see a Silver Lace Fern. In my well mulched backyard, these two ferns seem to sprout up nearly together. They are Zone 8 to 11 plants and like moist conditions and partial sun. They will spread in shady areas. It is a very available fern.
Another name for the fern is Cretan Brake Ferns, and I don’t know where the name “brake” came from. Anyone know? I’ve been asked to include more indoor or patio/balcony plants. Well, this is definitely one that can spend some time indoors although it likes high humidity that comes from outdoors.
Happy Gardening,
Dave
