Calyptrocalyx yamutumene grows surprisingly well in Miami in shady areas that can be kept moist. This palm is very attractive with the deep v-shaped leaves. With time, it begins to resemble more of a bush than a tree. It is an understorey palm from New Guinea, as are all Calyptrocalyx species.
My two palms are about 3 ft high and it seems they grow a few inches in height every year. So, I would consider this an easy to grow palm, but likely to be very cold sensitive, so it needs to be in a protective area. So far, no problems in Miami. Maximum height is 6 to 8 ft under ideal conditions.
Happy Gardening,
Dave
