Dendrobrium antennatum (Green Antelope orchid)

This orchid just recently bloomed and produces multiple flowers. The flowers have these little ears sticking up, in a twisted manner. I guess the species name antennatum come from “antenna.” The orchid comes from New Guinea and likes to be humid. The growing advice is to fertilize “weak-weekly” meaning 1/2 to 1/4 strength every week. That’s for optimal growth, and it still flowered with my usual sub-optimal fertilizing.

I received the announcement of the liquidation sale at Exotic Palms on July 30 and 31, 2022. Steve Stern has one of the finest collection of palms in Florida, and it is a shame to see his nursery close. I have updated the posting today.

I am still looking at other plant sales later in 2022. If you know of any, please let me know. I am considering adding a calendar which I could update every month, and send out notices by email. Let me know if this would be of interest.

Happy Gardening,

Dave
