I’m updating the plant sale page, as there will be a number of sales in the next 3 months. Sorry, I did not post the OFE sale in Homestead last weekend. The Tamiami Orchid Sale will take place January 17-19, and it’s one of my favorites. There will be many “companion plants” for sale, including succulents, ariods, bromeliads and even some exotic palms seedlings (I hope)
Yellow ginger (Hedychium flavescens) still looks and smells great!
I began this post mid-November, but delayed in posting it. A friend of mine was driving to Georgia, to see the autumn fall colors. I know our tree leaves don’t change color, so “Fall Colors” is a bit in jest.
My Kaempferias are dropping, particularly the Satin checks. Red torch ginger (Etingera elatior) still has its bloom. I’ve never tried it, but Wikipedia says that all parts are edible. The same goes for red button ginger. The flower shoots taste like grapes.

The Aphelandra hartwegiana just started blooming. I had to cut it back pretty severely, so it’s good to see it blooming again.

Lavender lace (Barleria cristata) just made a few flowers. More to come I sure:

The Yesterday, today and tomorrow tree is in full bloom. I will post more photos of the winter bloomers later.
Happy Gardening,
Dave
