Just now I added the Audobon native plant sale, in Coral Gables, which will held today June 1, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Sorry about the late notice. See Link
Rhondocactus grandifolius used to be called Pereskia grandifolia. It is still the Rose Cactus or Leaf Cactus. A closely associated species is the Pereskia acualata, which has yellow flowers. Both are from the cactus family and originate in Brazil.
It has some mean thorns, so be careful where you plant this.

The Pereskia acualata is called “Ora pra Noblis” in Brazil, and the leaves are known for their nutritional value (rich in niacin). I have a very small seedling growing right now, which right nowis growing like a vine.
These plants are definitely succulents and they will grow find in South Florida with a minimum of care. I keep the R. grandifolius well trimmed back, as I don’t want the mean branches extending out into the garden.
Happy Gardening,
Dave
